Having been where he first experienced stepping out on to a stage, and also where he made his professional debut, James is delighted to be returning this year to spend his Christmas as the Octagon Theatre to be playing the role of Tommy the Cat in Dick Whittington. Speaking to us about the casting, James said, “Despite having been fortunate to have performed on many stages, for me, none beats that of the Octagon. Chuffed doesn't cut how pleased I am to be spending my Christmas back in Yeovil with a wonderful production company, getting to perform on the stage where it all began for me. I can't wait to see what fun I can get up to playing Tommy the Cat and it means the world to be able to perform one last time on that stage before the Octagon enters into its exciting refurbishment. Bring on December!”

James is a performer, choreographer and teacher and is the Artistic Director of Project Dance, an arts organisation he founded when he was 14.

As a dancer, James has performed in a variety of settings from train stations to west end stages. In 2018 he won the Royal Academy of Dance’s first Project B Dance Challenge which resulted in him being awarded the Kevin O’ Hare Scholarship and in 2019, he won the Taunton Young Dancer of The Year Competition.

Previously, James was a company dancer with SolDansYouth, and is now an artist with The English National Ballet Youth Company (ENBYouthCo). Furthermore, James originated the role of Toby with the Youth Music Theatre UK (now BritYMT) in the world premiere of A Teenage Opera and has also taken on several principle roles in musicals.

As a creative, James has choreographed for an array of clients, events and settings and most notably, his work has appeared at the BFI Southbank and the Broadway Theatre, Barking.
