Tue 6 - Sat 10 Oct, Octagon Auditorium
Written in 1984 by ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, and Tim Rice, Chess tells a story of love and political intrigue, set against the background of the Cold War in the late 1970s/early 1980s, in which superpowers attempt to manipulate an international chess championship for political ends.
The main characters form a love triangle: the ill-mannered American Grandmaster, the intense Russian champion who plans on defecting to the West, and the Hungarian-American female chess second, who arrives at the International Championships with the American but falls in love with the Russian. From Bangkok to Budapest, the players, lovers, politicians, and spies all struggle to get the upper-hand.
A £1 ticket levy is included in all stated ticket prices.
Due to the ongoing limitations as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we can confirm that YAOS productions' Chess has been postponed until October 2021.
