Seth Lakeman 2019

TICKETS:* £25.00

Seth Lakeman takes a break from the Robert Plant musical juggernaut in Autumn 2018 to release his ninth studio album The Well Worn Path and head back out touring around the UK with a new band line-up.

The charismatic singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist found time at the beginning of the year, in between charging around the globe with Robert Plant and his band, the Sensational Space Shifters, to record a new studio album. It’s a return to a no-nonsense, organic, classic folk-rock approach with hints of Fairport Convention, Neil Young, Nick Cave and Billy Bragg - plus Lakeman’s trademark foot-stomping, fiddle bow-shredding and soaring vocals.

Seth brought in top producer Ben Hillier and along with long-time collaborator Ben Nicholls on upright and electric bass, he was joined by new boys Kit Hawes on electric and acoustic guitar and drummer Evan Jenkins. BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner Seth Lakeman’s previous albums include Mercury Prize nominated ‘Kitty Jay’ and the gold-selling ‘Freedom Fields’.

With support from:

CARUS THOMPSON

Originally making his name as part of explosion of the Australian Roots movement in the 2000’s Carus Thompson is a first class songwriter who’s songs and stories connect.

At home in Oz Carus has been nominated for many an award and critically lauded. Forte magazine called his latest album Island “a welcome return from Australia’s answer to Bruce Springsteen” and two songs of the album were shortlisted in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition, run out of Nashville, USA.

The UK has always show great support for this antipodean folk-rock talent, with his energetic and passionate approach to performance always winning over a crowd. He has the rare skill of being able to emotionally engage, whilst also entertaining - always ensuring the crowd gets up.

A singer-songwriter he is but with a good dose of Australian pub energy thrown in.
