Get to Know: Elizabeth & Jameson

Get to Know: Elizabeth & Jameson

Country West Fest, Westlands’ first-ever country music festival, is taking place here at the venue on Saturday 28 March. With a lineup of stellar original UK country artists, it’s set to be a day full of fantastic music. From heartfelt ballads to upbeat anthems, enjoy the best of modern and classic country in a friendly festival atmosphere.

Elizabeth & Jameson, a country duo joining us at Country West Fest, answered some of our questions so we could get to know them a little better…

Who are your biggest musical influences?

We are both fans of great songwriting and beautiful harmony vocals, so some of our musical influences include The Milk Carton Kids, Iron & Wine - and a lot of 1960's and 70's folk rock bands too, such as Fleetwood Mac.

Hannah loves The Wailin' Jennys for their close harmony vocals. Griff is a huge Beatles fan and this has definitely shaped his songwriting style in many ways too.

When did your music career begin?

We have both been in bands and various music groups since we were teenagers - starting at school really. Griff had a career as an actor/musician for several years before forming a folk rock band, and Hannah was part of a trad folk trio for many years. With these bands we had multiple album releases and the opportunity to tour nationally and internationally. It was under these guises that our paths first crossed, which eventually resulting in us forming as a duo in 2016.

What can people expect from your set at Country West Fest?

People can expect a set of original songs which are rich in emotive storytelling, and a harmony-driven sound featuring acoustic guitar, violin and lots of close harmony vocals. Our songs range in style from quiet and contemplative...to foot-stomping and fun.

What’s your favourite country song of all time?

Tough question! For Griff, it has to be a Willie Nelson song....probably I'm Not Trying To Forget You Anymore. Hannah can't choose - she changes her mind too often! But songs she always returns to are Chris Stapleton, White Horse and Alison Krauss & Union Station, Paper Airplane.

Any other information/facts you would like to share?
We were fortunate to travel to Nashville and perform a few shows there in 2024. The trip inspired some of the material for our second album - and gave us a few great stories to tell too!

Find Elizabeth & Jameson on the Acoustic Stage at Country West Fest on Saturday 28 March. We can't wait to see you there!
