Project Dance is a Yeovil born, nationally established arts organisation, which works to increase dance’s accessibility both through the creation of original, socially-inspired narrative productions, and the rolling out of a varied programme of community engagement work annually.
Founded in 2018 by local dancer James Bamford when he was 14, the company also seeks to cultivate emerging talent, and champion young people on their journey into establishing successful careers within the creative sector.
On Sunday 28th April, Project Dance will proudly return home to Yeovil to host a magical evening of dance and music, celebrating the very best of local talent in Somerset. Featuring exclusive new works from Project Dance Company, all proceeds from Collective will go towards supporting The Octagon Theatre’s transformation into a flagship cultural hub for the South West.

James, Director of Project Dance, says: “Some children find passion in a school subject, others on a sports field, for me it was at the theatre.
"Watching on as the Octagon’s future has been in limbo in recent times has been sobering at best, and more truthfully, heartbreaking. I know from attending a very passionate town council meeting before Christmas, that I’m not alone in feeling this way.
"I discovered what makes me happiest at The Octagon Theatre, and credit my time there as a child and teenager as what inspired me to follow my dreams.
"What happens to the next generation if the theatre isn’t there for them?
"The recent news of plans for a scaled down refurbishment and ultimately a reopening of the venue fill me with some optimism but now, more than ever, is not the time to take our theatre for granted.
"If you care like I do about our local theatre, and wish to see it accessible to all for generations to come, please consider joining us on Saturday 28th April at Westlands Entertainment Venue, Yeovil.
"Aside from raising money, by attending Collective you’ll be part of a community that is sending a clear message: we love our theatre, and it simply must return.”
You can purchase your tickets for Collective on the Westlands Entertainment Venue website.
