YEOVIL LITERARY FESTIVAL 2021
THE OCTAGON AUDITORIUM
Picturing Our Past - Somerset (and Dorset) on Film
In the spring of 1938 Bernard Culverwell filmed everyday life in the county as it was about to change forever. The schoolboy’s superb colour home movie of that disappearing world is the starting point for this talk about the contribution amateur film can make to our shared history.
David has been collecting and using home movies in television programmes for many years and in this illustrated talk he will show clips from his work that include: lovely film of farming in Dorset, apple picking in South Somerset, war work in Frome, the changing face of holidays in the West Country and a film he produced about the traditional gloving industry in Yeovil.
Tickets: £12 Members: £10.50
A £1 ticket levy is included in all stated ticket prices.
