For decades, the Octagon has welcomed more than 120,000 visitors annually, enriching lives, strengthening community identity, and driving economic growth across the region. As the area’s principal theatre, it has long been a centre for performance, learning, and participation—a place where creativity thrives and communities come together.

We are pleased to invite businesses to support the development and reopening of the theatre and promote the business to new and existing customers through our Centre Stage Business Patrons scheme. For as little as £150 you can play your part or enjoy the higher prestige and greater benefits of higher tiers within the programme.

We are happy to offer staged payments available for Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Packages. Through our associated charities, the payments can also be made to a registered charity.

Further Information

In May 2023, the Octagon closed its doors to begin a long-awaited and transformational redevelopment. While Somerset Council’s current financial emergency required the original £29.01 million design to be refined, a focused £15 million project is now moving forward with determination and clarity of vision. Funding already secured includes:

• £10 million from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport
• £1.25 million from confirmed and anticipated sources, including fundraising, ticket levies, and Section 106 contributions

A further £3.75 million will be secured through Yeovil Town Council, and the support of surrounding town and parish councils, and sponsorship from organisations committed to enhancing the cultural life of our region.

Despite the challenges, our ambition remains bold. The redeveloped Octagon will become a vibrant, modern cultural hub serving communities across Somerset, Dorset, and beyond. Its national recognition—both as an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation and as the Music Education Hub Lead for the two counties—underscores the exceptional cultural, educational, and social value it delivers.
