Be a part of The Octagon Youth Theatre’s Senior Company, where you’ll get opportunities to perform and be involved in performances both on and off stage. Come and join our dynamic rehearsal room and learn how to devise original and exciting theatre from scratch. If you are aged 12-18, this is an excellent opportunity to push yourself to the next level.
This term coming up we’ll be working on Spoken Word and gearing up to perform at A Christmas Extravaganza on Friday 28th November at Westlands Entertainment Venue.
The Youth Theatre this term will be led by Katherine Beverley and Leanne Baker.
Katherine has worked at the Octagon Theatre & Westlands Entertainment Venue for over 7 years, and is also our Arts Engagement & Outreach Manager. Katherine trained at the University of Birmingham studying Drama & Theatre, and is experienced in the world of theatre, what it takes to stage a show and has a vast knowledge of all things performing arts. Katherine has previously led our ‘Play-in-a-Day’ workshops and covered the youth theatre classes at Westlands. Katherine is looking forward to working with local young people to develop their talent and let them shine both on and off stage.
Leanne is a Somerset-based Director and Actor from Yeovil who trained at Rose Bruford College on the BA (Hons) American Theatre Arts and has studied abroad in Washington DC specialising in Singing and Acting. Since graduating in 2023, Leanne has been working at Warminster School, directing/assisting a variety of plays and musicals with ages 11-18, and is currently directing with the Exeter Northcott Theatre on their Elevate Write/Direct programme. Leanne enjoys sharing her passion for theatre and inspiring the next generation of young artists and looks forward to getting involved in the Youth Theatre and creating some exciting projects.
