From hair grabs, to stage slaps and upper cuts - these workshops will teach you how to become a disciplined and convincing stage-fighting actor, understanding the techniques needed to grab the audience’s attention. Work together to build an epic stage battle in 3 days, and perform to the audience on the 4th day!

Parents/Guardians:
Your child will join us as we’ll be making and devising a play in 3 days with Somerset Youth Theatre’s team of professional actors and practitioners, with a rehearsal and performance on day 4, which parents/guardians will be invited to watch. All young people will have the chance to develop their own character, and speak lines as part of a chorus, as well as individual, if they choose. The young people will learn the skills and techniques of paired stage combat, and will have opportunities to progress to advanced level sword combat, with the use of pipe cladding, therefore ensuring the young person’s safety is paramount in the activity.
Somerset Youth Theatre’s work often involves humour and comedy and therefore will support the young people in making shows that lift the spirits and are rooted in their community. We will ensure all work is fully accessible, considering differentiation for any SEND young people.
